Marten baring teeth
The Pine Marten is a member of the weasel family (therefore related to the mink and the larger Fisher). Unlike the Fisher, the Marten is found in most of Canada with the exception of the Prairie provinces.
Wary marten
As a member of the weasel family, the Marten is high energy, high metabolism little fellow. It is always on the alert for danger - and for feeding opportunities.
Acrobatic Marten
As a mostly arboreal mammal, the Marten is an expert climber and part-time acrobat.

Marten jumps to investigate
This Marten was bounding over the snowbank to investigate some approaching animal, possibly another Marten.

Marten portrait
Being a high-strung mammal, Martens are constantly stopping, looking, and trying to sense if there is danger. They often make very quick, darting movements.
Even when seemingly striking aggressive postures, it can't be denied that most people find the Marten to be an appealing animal.
