My work is merely a modest reflection of nature's unparalleled beauty.   Ultimately, of course, any photographic image will fall somewhat short of capturing something that is best experienced first-hand.

In terms of camera equipment, I use the Nikon D5 and D750 bodies (full frame sensor), or the Nikon D500 (crop sensor) body when I desire a bit more 'reach' with my lenses.  My modest lens collection consists of the Nikkor 200-500mm zoom lens, the Nikkor 300mm f4 PF prime lens, and the Nikkor 500mm f5.6 PF prime lens.  As a back-up zoom lens, I also have the Sigma 150-600mm zoom which provides extra flexibility and and a bit more 'reach' when paired with my D500.   This gear gives me the freedom to shoot mostly without a tripod and to be ready for those 'spur of the moment' photos.

At the end of the day, expensive equipment is no substitute for patience, dedication, a touch of artistry, and a good dose of luck!  Your love of the outdoors and simple camera equipment can often work wonders!  What matters most is that you enjoy 'the moment', as I enjoyed this one:
