As an amateur nature photographer, I like to think of my work as a modest reflection of nature's unparalleled beauty.   Ultimately, of course, any photographic image will fall short of capturing something that is best experienced first-hand.

I use relatively inexpensive Nikon equipment:  the D750 (full frame sensor) and the D500 (crop sensor), with either the Nikkor 80-400mm zoom lens, Nikor 300mm f4 PF prime lens, or the Nikor 500mm f5.6 PF prime lens.   I find that this gear gives me the freedom to shoot mostly without a tripod and to be ready for those 'spur of the moment' photos.

Speaking of equipment, I have come to believe (though not everyone will agree) that expensive equipment is no substitute for patience, dedication, a touch of artistry, and a good dose of luck!  Your love of the outdoors and simple camera equipment can often work wonders!  What matters most is that you enjoy 'the moment', as I enjoyed this one:
